The fleet industry and technology experts have dubbed the UK's road network unfit for autonomous cars in its current state, citing road surfaces, highway furniture and the frequency of roadworks as obstacles to wide-scale adoption. DriveSafe & StaySafe has called for increased safety education after new data has revealed that road traffic is the biggest killer of teenagers globally. Road injury accounted for a tenth of more than 1.2 million deaths among 10- to 19-year-olds worldwide in 2015, while in Britain in the same year road accidents killed 145 people and left 3,166 more seriously injured in the same age group, according to newly released World Health Organisation figures. UK employees spend a fifth of their salary on motoring costs

Recent research by YourParkingSpace.co.uk has revealed that the average worker spends nearly a fifth of their wages on motoring costs, including car finance, fuel and insurance to enable them to drive to and from work. With many workers now driving up to 60 minutes or more on their daily commute it’s not surprising the costs are adding up.
