At the Fleet News Awards this week, Marshall Leasing were shortlisted as Leasing Company of the year – up to 20,000 vehicles. Whilst we didn’t win the Award we were, as last year, Highly Commended. Fines for using mobile phone while driving to double from today

Drivers who use their mobile phones behind the wheel will see penalties doubled from Wednesday, March 1. Any motorist caught using a handheld mobile phone behind the wheel will face six points on their licence and a £200 fine. Currently the penalty faced is three points on your driving licence and a £100 fine. It means that drivers who have held their licences for less than two years could have their licenses revoked by the DVLA if caught just once. Norway set to phase out petrol and diesel cars by 2025

By 2025, Norway have planned to phase out sales of new petrol and diesel cars by using a tax system called, ‘Polluter Pays’ - designed to incentivise the purchase of low and zero emission vehicles. According to the sustainable transport website Elbil, the Norwegian government have stated that targets to grow sales of low and zero emission vehicles to represent 100% of the new car market were feasible with the right policy measures. HMRC have announced the Advisory Fuel Rates (AFRs), effective from 1st March 2017 Petrol: The rates across the over 2000cc band have decreased by 1p. The rates across the sub 1400cc and 1401cc to 2000cc bands remain unchanged. Diesel: The rates across all bands remain unchanged. LPG: The rates across the over 2000cc band have increased by 1p. The rates across the sub 1400cc and 1401cc to 2000cc bands remain unchanged.
