A Review Of Some Of The Best Low Tax Company Cars

There are so many things to consider, from reliability, drivability and comfort, to insurance, emissions and fuel economy, that the task in many companies has even opened up its own position.

These seasoned company car fleet managers have learned the tricks of the trade and are adept at finding the right cars, getting started by picking cars that fall under a low tax bracket.

Once this step is complete, they can then whittle down the contenders using other filters like those mentioned above. As an experienced fleet management company, this is exactly what we have done to bring you a review of some of the best low tax company cars available.

BMW i3 hatchback

With it’s somewhat futuristic looks, the BMW i3 is one of the most striking cars you can buy today—inside and out.

The i3 is available in two versions—fully electric or extended range electric, the latter of which comes with a petrol powered generator to recharge the batteries once they’re depleted. Either version is incredibly cheap to run, with the range extender hitting 470.8mpg and emitting a mere 13g/km of CO2—good news for your tax bill.

The higher than average lease cost may be off putting for some, however the i3 has a lot more to offer than a low tax bill. With it’s unusual back doors that hinge from the rear rather than the front, its carbon fibre shell, and its fun and agile driving style, the i3 makes a great all rounder that is sure to please you, your staff, and your clients.

SEAT Leon hatchback

The SEAT Leon is a favourite among businesses as a great all-round company car.

As the SEAT company is a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the 1.2-litre SEAT Leon shares some of its underlying technology with the Golf—although at a much cheaper cost.

The Leon not only performs well by our standards, but as a fourth-place finisher in the 2015 carbuyer.co.ukDriver Power customer satisfaction survey, its known to fare well with its purchasers. What’s more, with a fuel consumption of 57.6mpg and CO2 emission of 114g/km, the Leon incurs a low BiK rate and is also cheap to run.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV

With its size and deceiving looks you’d be forgiven for thinking this Mitsubishi Outlander was just another gas guzzling SUV. Yet as a hybrid vehicle with astonishingly low CO2 emissions of 44g/km, you’d be paying around the same in tax as you would for an entry model Ford Fiesta.

The Outlander is the perfect definition of a hybrid. It combines the practicality of having a large SUV with the power of a 2.0-litre petrol engine, the grip of four-wheel drive, and the money-saving benefits of a hatchback. If your commute is less than 30 miles, you can even get to work on a single charge and use the three-pin plug to refuel when you get there.
