The Bleak Picture of the Car Industry

The Bleak Picture of the Car Industry

The latest sales figures of the car industry may appear positive however, under closer scrutiny, they are not so promising. Findings from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), show a fall of 21.8% in diesel new car sales and in contrast, hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) sales have increased 17.1% and battery electric vehicles (BEV) has also risen by 144%. The government is funding two schemes in this area, Future Fuels for Flight and Freight competition (F4C) and Advanced Biofuels Demonstration Competition (ABDC). The F4C is providing funding to projects with the... Read full article

The Menace of Speedhumps and Potholes

The Menace of Speedhumps and Potholes

With the recent downpours up and down the country, potholes are on the rise but it’s not just them causing damage to our cars, it’s also speedhumps. Research by InsuretheGap has found that one in four drivers have had their car damaged by a pothole or a speedhump. The figure was even higher in urban areas with one in three suffering damage. With such a large number of vehicles being damaged by hazardous road conditions, more should be done to maintain our streets. However, with the 39% of drivers complaining about damage to their vehicles, a staggering 55%... Read full article
