Taking hayfever medication before driving could land you with a drug-driving conviction

Did you know that driving whilst on hayfever medication could land you with a drug-driving conviction?  The Road Traffic Act does not differentiate between illegal drugs, prescription drugs or over the counter medication – so driving ‘under the influence’ of hayfever medication could cost you a fine of up to £5,000 and points on your licence. Although it may seem a little over the top, some allergy medications produce side effects such as dizziness and drowsiness, which are potentially hazardous when driving. We suggest that you plan your... Read full article

Birmingham is the worst offender for ‘crash for cash’ scams

Figures from the Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB) show that in a list of crash for cash’ hotspots, Birmingham and Bradford are the worst offenders. Postcodes B25, B34 and B8 in Birmingham are the three worst offending areas for this scam, and the IFB says that single gangs can be behind thousands of orchestrated collisions. Interestingly, the IBF said that it had recently worked with City of London Police’s Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED) to convict a ‘serial’ crash for cash scammer in... Drink drivers are named and shamed as part of police tactic

We all know the potentially tragic repercussions of drink driving, and now offenders are being named and shamed as part of a police tactic in drawing people’s attention to the seriousness of the crime and also as a reminder of the consequences of being on the wrong side of the law. As part of their annual ‘Christmas crackdown’ from December 1 2020 to January 1 2021, Surrey police named and shamed eighteen drink-driving offenders, stating their full names, age, home address, place and date of arrest, and the mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath at the time...
