Taking hayfever medication before driving could land you with a drug-driving conviction

Did you know that driving whilst on hayfever medication could land you with a drug-driving conviction?
The Road Traffic Act does not differentiate between illegal drugs, prescription drugs or over the counter medication – so driving ‘under the influence’ of hayfever medication could cost you a fine of up to £5,000 and points on your licence.
Although it may seem a little over the top, some allergy medications produce side effects such as dizziness and drowsiness, which are potentially hazardous when driving. We suggest that you plan your journeys ahead if you do suffer with hayfever or other allergies, to ensure that you aren’t driving whilst on medication.
Side note – The University of Worcester have a ‘weekly pollen forecast’ on their website which might be useful when planning your journey around taking your hayfever medication!
