HMRC have updated the Advisory Fuel Rates (AFR) for company car users claiming back fuel costs from their employer.

The new AFR rates are as follows:

  • Increased by 1 pence per mile (PPM) to 13 PPM for company cars with an engine size of 2,000cc or more.
  • No change for diesel cars with an engine size of up to 1,600cc or an engine size of between 1,601-2000cc (9 PPM and 11 PPM respectively).
  • Increased by 1 PPM to 11 PPM for petrol cars with an engine size of up to 1,400cc.
  • Increased by 1 PPM to 13 PPM for petrol cars with an engine size of 1,401-2,000cc.
  • Increased by 1 PPM to 19 PPM for petrol cars with an engine size of 2,000 or more.
  • Increased by 1 PPM to 8 PPM for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) vehicles with an engine size of up to 1,400cc.
  • Increased by 1 PPM to 9 PPM for LPG vehicles with an engine size of 1,401-2,000cc.
  • Increased by 2 PPM to 14 PPM for LPG vehicles with an engine size of 2,000cc or more.

It is important to note that for hybrid vehicles, either petrol or diesel AFRs apply. The advisory electricity rate (AER) for plug-in vehicles has not changed and remains 4 PPM.
