5 Of The Most Important SUVS of 2016

2016 is the year that many great innovations and advancements in technology are adopted into the automotive industry.

Our vehicles are becoming ever more like mobile offices and living rooms. Wireless connectivity, automated driving systems, increased performance metrics; driving is becoming a whole lot more convenient and enjoyable by the day.

Leading the way in the market of low-mid range SUVs are a selected bunch of vehicles which show that you don’t have to compromise on performance and comfort if you’re buying on a budget.

Join us as we take a look at this years front runners and find out why they make it onto are list of 2016’s best SUVs.

MG GS SUV

A cross between a SUV and a family hatchback, the MG GS SUV comes from a new and rejuvenated MG brand. The price of the crossover sits in between the two markets too, with competitors like the Skoda Yeti and Nissan Qashqai by its side. MG’s offering still manages to win on price, with the options of petrol or diesel to choose from, and possibly hybrid in the near future.

Volkswagen Tiguan SUV

Making its debut last year, the Volkswagen Tiguan SUV is a big improvement on its predecessor. The SUV offers greater space in the interior and boot, revised styling, and a more comfortable rise. Although it’s a bigger vehicle, it’s also cheaper to run too — not to mention the plug-in hybrid version on its way.

DS 4 Crossback SUV

With DS now separate from Citroen, The DS 4 Crossback is their latest car to be released to market. Based on the DS 4 hatch-back, the new arrival is a SUV type vehicle with raised suspension and more rugged styling. After a disappointing start for the hatch-back version, DS believe they’ve come back stronger, offering greater practicality and a more preferable higher driving position.

Kia Sportage SUV

A very distinct vehicle that’s the smallest in its range, the Kia Sportage SUV has had a complete makeover inside and out. New engines to choose from and their top-of-the-line trim make it a strong competitor to its more up-market rivals the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Mazda CX-5.

Ford Edge SUV

Now from the smallest in its range, to the largest; in fact, the Edge SUV is the largest SUV Ford has ever put on sale in the UK and Europe. It has been on the market in the US for some time, sitting in the same range as the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe, yet, just like the Mondeo, it has has some specific tweaking for the European market.
