Government Funding in Place for Low-Carbon Vehicle Technology

Fossil fuels are a resource to cherish. As technology is constantly evolving, alternative methods to run vehicles are being researched and implemented. To further support these initiatives, thirty-two companies across the UK are currently developing low carbon vehicle technologies. These are set to benefit from £33million UK government investment to encourage further development. Projects range from the development of high-performance battery packs and electrified construction equipment, to hydrogen-powered engines. The government’s support for these... Read full article

London Heathrow to Introduce Ultra-Low Emission Zone from 2022

London Heathrow to Introduce Ultra-Low Emission Zone from 2022

Airports are known for one of two things, a gateway for a much-needed holiday away in the sun or the source of many traffic jams. If you’re a glass half-full type of character, we pray you try and stay that way following recent news reports. London Heathrow Airport is currently proposing to implement an Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) on their premisis to target older, more polluting passenger cars and hire vehicles from 2022. To make matters even more confusing for drivers across the country, there are plans to extend a wider access charge which would be... Read full article

New Data Standards to Make Parking Easier

New Data Standards to Make Parking Easier

As lovers of our vehicles, it can often be difficult to get to grips with changing road conditions in different towns and cities across the UK. A bane of our lives is parking, and there’s no worse sight than seeing full car park after full car park and panicking where to look next. To combat this issue, new national parking standards have been released in recent weeks, meaning that traditional payment methods such as machines could become a thing of the past. By introducing new standards, the Government’s aim is for all parking data released by local... Read full article

Drivers to Pay £50 a Day to Drive into Westminster

Drivers to Pay £50 a Day to Drive into Westminster

Having the flexibility to drive into London on business might soon be a luxury of the past. Drivers of pre-2015 diesel cars will be charged up to a staggering £50 a day to use their vehicle in the city of Westminster. This new legislative change comes as part of the city council’s plans to improve emissions. These vehicles which do not meet the Euro 6 emissions standard at present already have to pay London’s fee of £12.50 as part of the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) charge, and £11.50 for the congestion charge. From September 2019, the... Read full article

Numerous Motorists Avoiding Bans on UK Roads

Numerous Motorists Avoiding Bans on UK Roads

Many of us road users experience bad driving on a regular occasion. It can be a frustrating experience to know that these inconsiderate motorists are not learning from their lessons. Recent studies conducted by IAM RoadSmart reveals that over 11,000 drivers a year are still being allowed to legally drive on roads in the UK with 12 or more penalty points on their licence. When compared to the figures recorded back in 2013, there were an estimated 12,470 drivers then who had more than 12 penalty points against their name, and although the statistics have decreased by... Real-Time EV Charging Points from Google Maps

Technology is at the forefront of business, and it’s only going to get bigger and better for us fleet geeks. In the last few weeks, Google Maps has launched a new function on their app which delivers real-time search results. These detail the locations of electric vehicle (EV) charging point availability across the UK, (A.K.A a game changer for us EV lovers)! As many EV drivers may have experienced in the past, trekking all the way to a charging station only to find that all the ports are occupied can be a disappointment. This could lead to these fleet drivers... Read full article

Soaring Fuel Prices Require Strong Fleet Management

Soaring Fuel Prices Require Strong Fleet Management

With so many changes in a confusing marketplace, this is a particularly volatile time to be heavily involved within the car fleet industry. Although what you hear on the news may keep you up at night, many of these issues can be solved with a bit of sound management. If you’ve been living under a rock, you wouldn’t know it – but fuel prices have sky-rocketed over the last few weeks. Over the Easter period (we’re still reminiscing about this break), AA Fuel Price Reports showed that the cost of fuel at the pumps reached a five-year seasonal high.... Read full article
