Research finds that 86% of drivers don’t want to share their driving data

Research by consumer car reviews website Parkers found that only 10% of drivers knew that their vehicle has a data sharing agreement in place, and that 86% did not want to share their driving habit data with third parties.  Parkers’ editor Keith Adams said, “It’s true that we’re agreeing to all manner of terms and conditions on a daily basis – I shudder to think what Google knows about me – but it comes as a surprise to see so few drivers are aware of what their cars knows about them. It suggests that carmakers need to... Read full article

Half of Drivers Exceed 30mph Speed Limits

The Department for Transport (DfT) has updated its Vehicle Speed Compliance Statistics (SPE) to include data from 2019.  The DfT updated a series of reports relating to speed compliance in Great Britain, the broadest of which is the SPE0112 report, of which the findings are cause for concern. It showed that 54% of car drivers were exceeding 30mph speed limits in 2019, a fifth of whom were recorded at speeds over 35mph. Worse still, 6% of these offenders were caught at 40mph or more.  A further 50% of drivers were recorded exceeding the limit... Read full article

The Question of Unreliable Cars

The Question of Unreliable Cars

Hyundai has been named the most reliable car brand according to the JD Power Survey 2018. With this subject trending in the industry, we thought we would question the conundrum of unreliable cars. Multiple surveys are undertaken every year to attempt to deduce which cars are considered the most unreliable, with data collection methods including asking car owners to rate their cars, recording how many faults are reported for the cars each year and examining the number of annual breakdowns. Such surveys include; the JD Power Survey, the Driver Power Survey and studies... Read full article

How Telematics Can Help Reduce the Cost of Running your Fleet

How Telematics Can Help Reduce the Cost of Running your Fleet

The notion of having a black box in a car is frankly, unappealing to most people. Aviva found that 49% of people claimed they would never install a telematics device into their vehicle. A new generation of telematics could take this to the next level. Some telematics systems provide driver coaching whereby your very own inanimate car has somehow found a way to backseat drive.  However redundant or irritating some of the features of a telematics system may be, they can be incredibly useful for reducing the costs of running your fleet. Some telematics systems are... Read full article
