A group of the largest electric vehicle charge point operators in the country have united to create a new trade body, ChargeUK, which launched on April 28 2023.
The nineteen members are: Be.EV, Believe, BP Pulse, Char.gy, ChargePoint, Connected Kerb, ESB Energy, Evyve, Fastned, GeniePoint, Gridserve, Ionity, Mer, Osprey, Pod Point, PoGo Charge, Raw Charging, Shell Recharge and SSE Energy Solutions.
Collectively, these operators will invest over £6 billion into installing and operating new EV charging infrastructure by 2030.

Drivers of electric vehicles are now subject to penalties for spending too long at EV chargepoints.
Penalty amounts vary between locations and chargepoint providers. Examples of overstay fees include:
£30 after one hour in Aberdeen as of April 1 2023. Similar charges have applied in the Highlands since the beginning of the year.
£20 after one hour in Sheffield as of April 1 2023.
£8 after one hour at 350 ESB charge points in London.

BP will invest up to £50 million into a new electric vehicle battery testing centre and analytical laboratory in the UK, with the intention of opening the facilities by the end of 2024.
The testing centre and laboratory will be located at the existing BP global headquarters in Pangbourne, Berkshire which already facilitates the research and development of fuels, lubricants and EV fluids.

In September 2021, the Department for Transport (DfT) appointed the Royal College of Art (RCA) and PA Consulting to create an ‘iconic’ British electric vehicle charging point design, in hopes of it becoming ‘as recognisable as the red post box’.

Oxford City Council has joined forces with Pivot Power, Fastned, Tesla Superchargers and EV charging services provider Wenea to create a new electric vehicle (EV) charging hub which, according to Fleet World, is ‘said to be the most powerful in Europe’.
The hub, at Redbridge Park & Ride in Oxford, will host 10MW of power on site for 38 fast and ultra-rapid chargers: 10 Fastned 300kW chargers, 12 Tesla 250kW Supercharges and 16 Wenea 7-22kW charge points.
