5 Cars to Get Excited About in 2017

2016 was a great year in the motor industry. We saw the release of the Alfa Romeo Giulia saloon, the Bentley Bentayga SUV, the BMW M2 coupe, and we got a first glimpse of the Ford GT supercar. But 2017 is about to get a whole lot more exciting; here’s our list of five cars to get excited about this year.

Abarth 500X

We’ve all seen the Fiat 500 Abarth, but 2017 will see the release of the Abarth 500X. The much anticipated new take on the standard Fiat 500X will see bigger wheels, lowered suspension, deep spoilers, and a sports exhaust. The Abarth version of the 500X will also bear the iconic scorpion badges and graphics. Rivaling the Nissan Juke Nismo RS, the Abarth 500X with have a 1.4 litre four cylinder turbocharged engine to give it a real kick.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUV

Alfa Romeo are back in the game; they are set to have released 8 models by 2020. The Stelvio is number five in the Alfa family, taking its place alongside the 4C, the Giulietta, the Giulia, and the Mito. With a 2.89 litre twin turbo V6 engine, a top speed of 177 mph and 0-62 mph in just 3.9 seconds, the Alfa SUV is definitely getting us excited. The plan is to also release a 2 litre petrol and a 2.2 litre diesel version.

BMW 5 Series

This seventh-generation BMW 5 Series is set to take on the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. It will be longer and wider than its predecessor, with an aluminium-based chassis that will bring the weight down by a whopping 100kg. The new 5 Series houses the latest autonomous technology, allowing the car to take over more steering, braking, and acceleration functions (when the driver aides are activated, of course). Both petrol and diesel versions of the car will be released, as well as a hybrid version that boasts up to 141.2 mpg and omitting only 46 g/km of CO2.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class All Terrain

This year, Mercedes are making sure they get in on the all terrain action. The E-Class All Terrain will have 4MATIC all-wheel drive, an SUV style grille, and a raised suspension to make it a vehicle as suitable for off-road adventures as it is for the motorway. The All Terrain will give the Audi A6 all-road a run for its money.

Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo

A more practical ‘shooting brake’ version of the Panamera is on its way in 2017: the Panamera Sport Turismo. Set to rival the Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake, the Sport Turismo will house a powerful V8 turbo engine as well as a twin-turbo V6 version. We’re also expecting an E-Hybrid version to be released with around 60 g/kn of CO2. Aside from the power this car can kick out, it looks pretty beautiful as well...

2017, bring it on.

There are so many new releases expected this year that it was pretty tough to pick a top five. What cars are you excited to see the release of this year?
