Introducing the Jaguar I-PACE
20 February 2017
Jaguar’s first electric, battery-powered vehicle has been announced: the Jaguar I-PACE. The I-PACE was first revealed at the LA Motor Show at the end of 2016 but we’re going to have to wait until late 2018 to get our hands on one.
Electric Everywhere
You may have noticed that car manufacturers are all jumping on the electric car bandwagon. That’s all down to the government’s aim to ensure that 9% of all new cars and vans in the UK are ultra-low emission by 2020. On top of this, manufacturers are being threatened by a £90 per vehicle fine should they not comply with EU emission regulations. As a nation we don’t seem to be 100% convinced by electric cars quite yet, so car brands are starting to up their game.
And up their game they have. This ultra-low emission Jag is perhaps the most beautiful electric car to date.
The Next Generation of Electric Vehicle Design
Design Director of Jaguar Ian Callum has introduced this brand-spanking-new car as representing ‘the next generation of electric vehicle design’.
With top speeds of 200 mph, 400 horsepower, and the ability to fly from 0 to 60 in just 4 seconds, you’d think that something just had to be sub-par. Perhaps the battery life? Wrong. In fact, the Jaguar I-PACE can go up to 310 miles on a single charge, with a full charge only taking 2 hours.
The I-PACE has no emissions whatsoever therefore drivers won’t be required to pay any congestion charges.
Eco-friendly and Luxurious
Eco-friendly doesn’t have to mean all natural and outdoorsy. The I-PACE that eco-friendliness can be doused in luxury. The interior upkeeps with Jaguars standards, with lightweight Windsor Leather slim-line seats with stitched on labels. The boot has an enormous 530 litres of space thanks to the battery being located under the floor. Add that to the 28 litres of space under the bonnet, you won’t run out of storage space.
What could possibly make this car more luxurious? Try a panoramic glass roof that can be illuminated with LEDs. Sign me up.
