Average Diesel Price Rising ‘Too High’ in Recent Months

Fuel prices have always fluctuated, and these days more-so than ever. The average price of fuel rose for the fourth month in a row into May 2019, with petrol 11p a litre more expensive than the beginning of the month, and diesel 7p dearer, looking back on the average fuel price from the start of February 2019. Petrol prices were averaging in at what now looks like a measly 119.54p, and diesel was 128.64p. This now clocks in from the end of May 2019 at 130.57p per litre for petrol, and 135.54p per litre for diesel.
Going back into the archives, the last time unleaded petrol was more expensive than what we are faced with every time we look to fill up our tanks was on July 15th 2014, where the price per litre stood at 131.61p. Similarly, diesel hit a high with a staggering 136.94p average price per litre on October 30th 2018. As a knock-on effect on the constant rising price of fuel, the May 2019 pump price increase now means that the cost of filling a diesel 55-litre family vehicle went up by 96p to £74.55, which equates to £3.80 more than just four month ago.
