Electric car drivers don’t look back

A poll of 2,000 respondents conducted by Zap-Map has revealed that 91% of drivers who have made the switch to electric would not consider switching back to a petrol or diesel car.

Just 1% said they would switch back. 

Other key findings include:

• 73% of respondents were first-time EV owners
• 52% had purchased their EV within the last year
• 8% were on the fence about whether or not they would switch back.

Zap-Map also investigated which EV models received the highest satisfaction score. The results were:

• Volkswagen ID.3, Kia Niro Plug-in Hybrid, and BMW 3 Series saloon all received 100% driver satisfaction.
• Tesla Model 3 (96%) and Kia e-Niro (96%)
• Hyundai KONA electric (94%)
• Renault Zoe (92%)
• Nissan Leaf (90%).

Last year, 2020, saw a significant increase in EV sales, with industry figures showing that 9.7% of all new car sales were electric, compared to 3.2% in 2019, and just 1.1% in 2015.
