ANPR cameras to help prevent parking fines
25 May 2021
Parking experts Hozah have received new investment which they will use to ‘revolutionise the UK's car park infrastructure’ with new a new parking payment system.
The automated system will use Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras to detect when a car enters and exits a car park, calculating the length of their stay and incurred fees automatically.
ANPR technology, which creates location data by recognising vehicle licence plates, has already proved successful for managing congestion zones and ultra-low emissions zones in the UK.
By reducing the space for human error, this technology could help drivers to avoid fines and enjoy their trip without the worry of rushing back for a parking deadline. It also cuts out the need to weight down your pockets with loose change!
The technology, which will be usable through its own app, will allow drivers using Hozah adapted car parks to check their transaction history and find a breakdown of their spending.
Similarly, parking service provider Parkopedia has created a programme designed to assist drivers in navigating indoor parking areas – such as multi-storey car parks. The technology enables drivers to find their vehicle if they forget where they parked, and also find indoor electric charging stations.
Parkopedia spokesperson Dr Brian Holt said, “Parkopedia had a clear vision from the start and we have worked tirelessly to deliver an unparalleled level of accuracy to our indoor maps.
“We have closely monitored the direction the industry is heading and the associated benefits with connectivity and autonomous driving, so starting to deliver an indoor mapping solution with OEMs is essential in meeting driver demands.
“Parkopedia, as a market leader within parking services and the associated infrastructure, has an unparalleled depth of knowledge which puts us in a unique position to deliver an optimal solution for both industries and drivers alike.
“I look forward to seeing our product in production vehicles, helping drivers to effortlessly navigate, park and charge, and to the day when navigation systems going blank inside parking facilities becomes a distant memory for us all.”
We at Marshall Leasing are always interested in new technology makes life easier for drivers, and trust that you find this information useful.
