Helpful information about travelling abroad with your fleet vehicle

As the Christmas season approaches, we wanted to share with you some helpful information about travelling abroad with your fleet vehicle.

First and foremost, if you are planning to travel with your fleet vehicle, you will need to obtain a VE103 (Vehicle on hire) certificate which shows that you are permitted to use your leased vehicle abroad. Each certificate is valid for a single vehicle only and covers any European trip within 12 months of issue.

Low Emission Zones

According to the AA, more than 200 cities in 10 countries across Europe are now operating Low Emission Zones, in which the most polluting vehicles are either banned or charged a fee. This is why it's critical to plan ahead and make yourself aware of any zones you may encounter on your travels.

For example, some French cities require your vehicle to display a Crit'Air clean air sticker which indicates your vehicles emissions output. A similar scheme is in place in Germany, where Plakette stickers are enforced. In Italy, there are more than 100 low emission zones.

There are also many other traffic restrictions to consider, such as traffic limited zones and congestion charging zones. More than 200 Italian towns and cities have camera-enforced traffic limitation zones (ZTLs) affecting foreign vehicles.

To help avoid charges, check out Urban Access Regulations in European countries before you travel.

We at Marshall Leasing are always happy to help, so please get in touch if you have any questions or queries about taking your vehicle leased by us abroad in Europe.
